It isn’t necessary unless it is part of an estate or you are going to donate your timeshare for charity. Then you would want an honest fair market value for it.
If you want to try to sell your timeshare yourself, list it online for sale. There are many free classified advertising sites where you could list it. Try to think of places that experienced timeshare owners would look. Specialized classifieds for timeshares will ensure that most of your visitors are actually looking for a timeshare and want a bargain. Do a search for timeshare classifieds and you’ll come up with over 100K results. eBay and Craigslist are also good places to get a lot of exposure for selling your timeshare.
